The Green Problem
No color defeats more landscape painters than green. Nature serves it in ten thousand variations and the tube serves it in three, all wrong: too minty, too loud, too much from nowhere. The fix is not avoiding tube greens, and it is not mixing every green from scratch either. It is knowing the system: two routes to a mixed green, a warm one and a cool one, and a correction for each tube green that turns it from a chemical into a place. This folio walks both routes, tames viridian, lets sap green slide into autumn, and ends where every landscape ends, with the gray-green of distance. After these five wells, green stops being a problem and starts being a season.
